Houston County Schools welcomes all students who live within our district's boundaries and meet state age requirements. All student enrollment is completed digitally online. Specific enrollment details are listed below. If you need to find out which school your child will attend, please use the School Zone Locator to look up the school boundaries for your address. 

    • Legal parent (Must be on the birth certificate)
    • Legal guardian (Must provide all Houston County Court documentation)
    • Department of Human Resources for DHR
  • The enrollment process requires the following documents:

    • Copy of a birth certificate 

    • Address verification document to verify your residence within our district's boundaries

    • Medically-verified immunization records

    • Parent/Guardian Government-issued ID

    Other Important Documents

    • Court documents if applicable
      • Custody arrangement, parenting plan, adoption decree, or restraining orders
    • Education Forms, if applicable – 504 Plan, IEP, or Health Plan

    Residence Verification 
    Houston County Schools only enrolls students who reside within school district boundaries.  The residence verification can be met with:

    • Mortgage statement, Lease agreement, or Houston County Deed paperwork
    • Property tax statement
    • 2 Utility bills (Water, electric, or gas)



    Immunization Requirements
    The State of Alabama requires a completed and medically verified Certificate of Immunization (Blue Slip) or you must provide a Certificate of Exemption. 

    Transcript or Academic History
    Students transferring from another school district should be withdrawn from their school.  The application will also ask for the student's previous school and if the student has been in any special programs.

    Houston County Schools offer the Student Enrollment Application in English and Spanish.

    Attendance Boundaries
    Students should live within the attendance boundary of a school to enroll. To verify which school your student should attend based on your home address, please visit our School Locator website.  If you have any questions, please contact via email our Enrollment Department at studentenrollment@hcboe.us

  • What if I have errors while filling out the enrollment form?
    You can not submit until you have all green checkmarks.  Return to the red portion and correct the error.


    Where do I put my contact information?
    The Parent or Legal Guardian filling out the enrollment form needs to make sure to list themselves as contact number one.


    Can I use the same telephone number more than one time?

    No, each time you fill out contact information you have to use a different telephone number.
