NOTICE OF HOUSTON COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION PROPOSED REAPPORTIONMENT PLAN FOR BOARD MEMBER ELECTION DISTRICTS
[THIS WILL NOT CHANGE SCHOOL ZONES]
The Houston County Board of Education will consider proposed changes to its single-member election districts for board members, based on 2020 Census data. Formal consideration of the proposed plan will be at its regular meeting on Monday, July 27, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m., at the Houston County Career Academy (662 West Main Street in Dothan) with a public comment period prior to any deliberation and vote of the plan. Maps of the proposed district boundaries will be available for public review at the Board website link, http://www.hcboe.us and the Board of Education Central Office. Interested citizens are encouraged to offer their comments regarding the proposed plan. The Board of Education will accept comments regarding the proposed plan by email to wade.vince@hcboe.us with the Subject “RE: Board Member Districts” and include the author’s full name and place of residence. Emails will be read into public record upon consideration.
